A work-in-progress for my color pencil class:
I still cannot get the hang of choosing which colors will blend together to create the matching hues, and always have to ask my teacher for help. I hope I will eventually learn how to do it myself, because this is one of the more interesting mediums to me and I would like to try to use it more often.
This is super pencil challenge piece, Sarah. Do be bold though with those colors.
ReplyDeleteYou know that every art work is something of a portrait, in that we create what we know, especially ourselves. Likely you are fair skinned and therefore gravitate toward fair tones. In this work you need consciously to go beyond that in depth of tone and value. I know you are just putting in under layers now and will build up more, but the boldness of under layers needs to be there from the start. I would suggest reds and purples. The lighter tones of the highlights can be added on top with burnishing for colored pencils.
Thank you!!! :D <3
DeleteThe features are perfection!
ReplyDeleteThanks! The main placement was lightly traced for this project, as the instruction's emphasis is more on the color work than getting things drawn in the correct spots. :)
