Balkan 14

 In Split, Diocletian’s Palace

The narrow passages lead to a very ancient church, with a courtyard.

And beautiful bronze doors.

The interior is round

The pulpit

The altar arrayed for Lent

The small organ

A side chapel

Outside are Egyptian Sphinxes. There used to be about 13: but most were smashed as belonging to non-Christian religions. These survived.

Then the rain resumed with some vigor, so we stopped for hot soup.

Next, to the shore.
