A Figure
Without having much experience yet, I decided to try embossing a figure in metal. This is obviously much more complicated than a simple block design work, because a figure needs layers of relief and I have neither the tools nor the experience with the medium to do this advanced work. But I ventured forth. The first one was quite bad. (Not shown.) The second (below) a touch better, but it showed me how much I would need to learn to get proficient at this medium. I do not intend to put in the requisite number of hours and "the first hundred" to get proficient, but I it is something I have wanted to try and now I did. I could use the medium in future works and know what I can and cannot do with minimum practice.
I would urge everyone to delve into new media now and again, even if they won't be your life's work. Stretching exercises are good for us.
That is spectacular! I don't think you would need as many hours as you think to be quite proficient. What a fun new medium.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! That's nice to see you recommend trying new mediums even if you don't get very far with them. I think one of my problems is my over-developed sense of trying not to "waste time" on anything that I don't think will be productive in the long run. lol
ReplyDeleteI wrote a reply to Pam here early and it got lost somewhere.
ReplyDeleteThanks nyway.
It is not a waste of time to try other things that won't get the hundred-plus hours for mastery. Expanding ones horizons and skills is nearly always a good thing. Ideas from dabbling and exploring can be incorporated into what you do most.
I really like it.
ReplyDeleteI think I like that one more than the other one :D
