Somebody - not me - needed a getaway from a stressy week, so on motorcycle and with a friend, she went to one of our favorite little mountain villages, Soglio, to the same historic hotel where we stayed some years ago. It is in new hands now. (It had been a family business for generations, but the heirs gave it up.) But it looks mostly the same, except this time the bed was not a short, carved, 1600’s poster bed.
It had its own little bathroom, down a stone staircase.
With Soglio toiletries, THE best, from mountain herbs, made in that village.
The gigantic antlers, dark paintings, ancient weaponry, and armor still graced the reception hall.
The dining room was still adorned in wildflowers. Add a candle, tea, and one’s journal, and how better to while away the time until supper of local produce.
To be continued with haunted villa, bone house, and other interestings.
