(Post Titles are Difficult)

I was thinking of just skipping the post this week again because of the lack of sharable visual progress I made (I made a ton of invisible and un-showable stuff happen though, haha!), but then I was like, welllll, if I do that, I might get into the habit of skipping and that might be a little sad.

So instead, I'm going to blabber on briefly about the invisible stuff I did, and give you to look at this sloppy scrap sheet of paper which I keep between my laptop keyboard and the screen, when it is shut away in its proper place, to minimize the smears on the screen and to keep notes on  -- apparently Alt key codes and inches to centimeter conversion -- and now a scribble of memorable takeaway from one of Djamila Knopf's presentation recordings from Lightbox Expo 2020, that I listened to while drawing (un-showable progress) (and actually, it was so interesting that I got absorbed in the presentation and did a lot less drawing than listening lol).

(it was in regards to finding inspiration/getting out of art block, and says, "listen to all the music, read all the books, play all the games, take all the showers, go on all the walks" -- basically do other idea-generating stuff besides focusing on art if you are feeling like you are in a rut in that department. It was more fun when you could hear it, haha, and it was one of her co-hosts/guests who said it) (no, I am not currently in an art block. watch me jinx myself now lol)

Also I am sorry that I haven't been keeping up here with the newer posts - I haven't seen most of the stuff from the past couple of weeks (although it appears it is not many), but have been dropping my drivel too late in the day and then being too tired to be on the computer longer. I mean to look at everything soon. The thumbnails and titles look fun.

 Stay well :)

Watercolor and

Listening and Painting

A small piece. It is difficult to paint when ones brushes don’t travel with one. One of those bags of art materials  that got removed for weight restrictions had all my brushes.

Hello from Colorado

Back in the States

I haven’t been posting here, but I have been busy stuffing stuff into luggage (Swiss chocolate), and trying not to suffocate wearing a mask for too many hours on too long flights, and playing with a toddler, and trying to make up a bit of lost sleep.
Awaiting the birth of grandchildren, this is what we saw out the window the first day.

Not at all shy even a few feet from the house with lots of people in big windows watching.

Buck of the broken antler. It’s hanging down by his eye.

Later in the day, as we were taking a walk around the house a resting doe watched us as we came within a few yards of her, and she just kept chewing. I think this was deer habitat before people took it over, so the deer aren’t moving out.

Another Old Panel

For a Little Girl

The background was brushed on, so I left as it was, and just added the misty princess and unicorn. Yes, she wants that one!

Touch ups

A Large Pile

The moderately acceptable watercolors of the last months are heading to the States with me to be given away, but a few wanted some additional touches. These, for instance:

Webcomic(s) Updates

I have not really been making anything lately besides life drawings (one per month, usually), a lot of webcomic work, and Draw This in Your Style challenges or fanart doodles. So I had trouble finding something to put here for visuals, haha!

Character-design braindump for villainess for dragon comic, from last month or something haha

Anyway, the monster comic is completed, and has been mostly well-received as far as I can tell. :)

The dog comic - I don't remember if I told you, but we had to switch around some work roles and such among ourselves - but work has begun again on it, though slowly.

And the dragon comic is still kind of on the back burner until we get the dog thing fairly well along the road to completion.

Old Canvas Panel

Discovered

When packing and moving, lots of old things get dredged up. I found some small old canvas panels with random paint colors. I turned one into a fantasy piece for a young neice. What do they all like?: princesses and unicorns. I should probably make a half dozen.

A Warm Up

I have been doing lots of other things, Art and not-art, so the Watercolor series was going to be discontinued. I found I sort of missed it. I know it is not my forte, but it is relaxing, and don’t we all need that?

So, while listening to some fascinating health talks this evening (about that electrical system in us, how vibrations, color, forests walks, etc. are all vital to healthy living....), I painted, with a small pad and my travel paint box. I should be doing dozens of other things, but listening was on my list, so I did.

Here was a warm up piece.

August Life Drawing

Behold my main digital-arting tools...

(the sizing is a little off, and the dusk lighting wasn't very good for photography, but there's that, haha)

(photo taken from above; sloppy drawing made at a different angle, while sitting on furniture)
