Shared Blooms

Just sharing some gifted pretties again. :)

I've been really sick, and that plus a lot of "bad" news recently, both personal and in general, has made it kind of a struggle to get motivated for much lately. Despite my lack of energy and life, I think I've made good progress over the past couple of weeks on several art-related projects which I can't really show anything from, and I have finally caught up on reading all the fun blog posts I'd been missing here -- so much of travels, and pretty art and flowers, and...rain!!! wow!!!

Here's to September, I guess XD

Blessings to all ♥

Glattfelden

Sunday Grill

Many people in Switzerland have a garden outside the village, if their yard is small to non-existent. So one gets a walk and produce with a bit of work. We joined daughter and son-in-law for dinner in their garden outside their pretty village  today.

So, is this ingenious or what? : toilet paper roll soaked in used cooking oil, for a wind proof torch.

Appenzeller Biber

Look Who Came to Our House

We took a hike to town and stopped at the bakery where these are made.
Ingredients: wheat and Dinkel flour, honey, sugar, spices, salt; with a filling of almond paste, sugar, lemon, and candied orange and lemon.

If you are wondering about the figure, it is a farmer carrying two large cow bells.

It is quite edible.

In Progress

Another Class

……to listen to, so another watercolor started. This is the initial color lay-in. It will get many more layers.

Andermatt 2

Teufelsbrucke

The old bridge is the lower one, now for pedestrians only. Above is the vehicle bridge. The one through which the photo is taken is the railroad bridge.

The rushing waters that need to be traversed.

The mountains that constrict options.

And a couple of fine people walking the curving way.

After which we drove on toward home, with a lunch break at a rest stop. With Italy closed, the hordes of Dutch and Belgian tourists were vacationing in southern Switzerland.

Note: the previous post has an edit and addition.

Andermatt

The Bridge Again

The young people hadn’t seen the the Teufelsbrucke, so on our way home from Disentis, we stopped for a little hike down to the falls and the bridges. (A couple of years ago I did a series of posts about the story of the bridge -but, no, I don’t have time to look up the dates.). The site was worth a second look, or third, or more.

First we had to get there. On the way we saw a family biking up the mountain, with children towed behind. Brave? Or scary?

A favored hiking area.

Some people like to live way away from civilization.

So, we arrived in Andermatt, parked, and hiked toward the bridges.

Many little falls along the way.

And summer wildflowers.

And disconcerting metals stairs to traverse, to get to ordinary bridges. That is a railway track between the water and the road. When there isn’t much room, you stuff things wherever you can.

And, yes, there is a tunnel for the train behind the rock. In fact, this whole mountain area is honeycombed with tunnels. Various random ones are for artillery to shoot out of, if the passers by are not welcome.

These are the Wappen/symbols of the canton (Uri) and the community (Ursern).

The sign says this area has the most well-known canyon in Switzerland (mostly because of its scenic waterfalls, the bridges, and the twisty roads).  The sign also says that this pass area has for a very long time been a trade route -Säumerverkehr über den Gotthard  - (between northern and Southern Europe).

And eventually, after more metal stairs, one gets to the Bridges.

To be continued….

LIfe Drawing and Pretty Blooms

During laundry again:

(the discolored spot above the car on this page was a sunlight patch that the camera decided to villainize)

And the pretties from Sunday that I couldn't help but share (not mine, I don't pretend to garden or arrange squat these days haha)

I think the tiny purple ones were called Sea Lavender? I have such a goldfish memory lately. But I've never seen them before and I am in love.

idk, I kind of squashed them on the ride home, but these just made my week better XD enjoy also!

Busy, busy, busy! With the roommate's wedding, and the horrors of job hunting, I am sorry to say I'm just dropping this and running off again; but I will catch up on the other blog posts soon! They look interesting from the thumbnails I saw in the Compose list on Blogger here. ♥ Take care!
