Some Amusing WIP Shares

(At least, I found these amusing, but it might have been just that it was very late and I was at the screen too long.)

Paper doll-making work for an online course (which is not published yet, but here's the link!). This is the same course I had mentioned when I shared that drawing time lapse a few weeks ago.

I used to love making paper dolls with my sisters growing up, but this is the first time I've created some digitally! There are, of course, both pros and cons to this method; also, I'm trying to keep things simple, because they are intended for preschool-aged children, but I'm not sure I'm succeeding very well. XD We would get pretty complicated with our dolls back in the day, and there were whole families with tiny, tiny outfits for the babies even lol

Decided on mirrored poses for the dolls, so that making the clothing items that would be nearly the same for both easier. The canvas is a standard paper size, so the dolls can be printed from home.

When I went to flip the form for the second doll, it made me think of that medical chart thing hahaha

Not the final versions, but mostly completed. Yes, the belly buttons were moved down a bit already.

Since taking these screenshots, I have trimmed the stands a bit to allow for better shoe accommodation, and touched up other details, but this is pretty much how they look.

As of now, I have roughly a dozen clothing items drawn, and I just need to stop jumping all over the place with the different categories and finish a complete page set or two. XD

More Saturday

The Wine Making

In a separate facility nearby the wines are made. We got an informative tour of the process.

The fermentation vats

The aging barrels. People still make these by hand for the industry. Each one costs a thousand francs. Who wants to be a cooper?

Then a celebratory lunch and toasts followed with the young couple.

Then

Saturday

Some of us and another son’s in-laws from the States went to wine tasting in a picturesque little farming town.

The Engel (angel) restaurant from which the winery gets its name, Engelwy (angels’ wine).

The winery and tasting room are in this barn.

The neighbors

The flowers

In the tasting room, set up for a Jodler club dinner in the evening.

The neighborhood.

What’s Up?

THINGS Were Happening

SHE SAID YES!

Youngest son is now engaged, so the past days have been full.

The proposal was Friday by moonlight.

Getting Ready

For October

Because I don’t have enough projects in progress already.

Ready for "Inktober"

I got way too happy when my new art supplies came in the mail hahaha

metallic paint pen

The paint pen was actually part of a Christmas project plan, but I'm thinking it might be fun to incorporate that into some ink drawing? We shall have to test this theory...

shineyyyyy

my first actual watercolor block lol I'm excited

I wanted to try something a little different with my challenge this October, so I'm going to make ACEO cards for the days I join, and then put them up for sale after the month is over. Thus this broke girl's guilty splurging on new supplies, nicer quality than what I have in my stash currently. Does the fact that I've never been able to sell any of my artwork* before in my entire life make this sketchy plan less dubious? Obviously, we care not. XD

Are you joining the Inktober challenge this year? If so, best wishes, and I hope we get to see some of your pieces!♥

*not including a certain book commission piece, and a certain online class illustration gig :)

This is when everything looks wrong.
But! It’s just an under layer.

But…. I am putting more time into a project which you will see elsewhere shortly. Until then, no hints.

Life Drawing Scribbles

Forgot I had this from last laundry day. I was still getting over whatever I was sick with, so I didn't have much energy or focus, but the squiggly line is a blind contour doodle of the mountain/hill that was in front of my parking spot, and the other things are little birds, haha...

also why this photo so dark sorry

Fuzzy Pony

More of Melli

She has her winter pudge already, too.

She was wondering what I was doing.

Oddity

In the Autumn

Forsythia bloom in March, right? So, what does it say about a year when they bloom in September? The summer must have been so cold and wet the poor plants thought it passed through winter again. The blooms are not profuse, as they are in spring, but they are definitely there. I have never seen a reblooming in the same year.

And proof picture. Notice the elderberries are ripe; it’s definitely autumn.

And you might be able to tell the pony has a fuzzy winter coat growing.

Watercolor 536

Owl

The colors are not pictured true, but that’s our light today. Rain is coming again.
The paper is white and the colors are quite intense.

Digital Drawing Time Lapse

From my profile pic artwork for Ich Kann :)

I'm not sure if it loaded correctly - it was being persnickety when I was putting it in the post - so I'll try to remember to check back again XD

Harvest Time

Special

My Better Half found this while digging potatoes, and gave it to me.

I couldn’t resist: it will be a watercolor called “He Gave Me His Heart.”

No, it’s not finished. That is a nectarine with it.
