Castle Visit

Across the river from the Plaza of Heroes.....

... there is a park with a reconstructed castle complex. It is a mix of historical styles.

A festival was going on in the courtyard.

The gable of the church

Decorations on the palace

The palace is now used as the agricultural museum, so we went in to see it. Hungary has a rich agricultural history.

That bird over the door is called an Auerhahn in Switzerland. It is a form of forest chicken.

The grand staircase; where one needs to take posed pictures of one's girlfriend.

The upper floor is full of excellent wildlife dioramas.

Hares and pheasants

This is the native breed of cattle, long-horned and grey.

This is a very remarkable bird, larger than a large turkey, with whiskers.

The Hungarian version of red deer/Hirsch/caribou

And the small deer

A cow and calf of the native cattle

A farm scene with folk dress and wooly pigs.

And this will end our tour of Budapest. We saw the horse floor too, with beautiful equines, but not with beautiful photography on my camera, so just imagine it.

Folk Festival

A group of people with costumes from the Mongol period were singing and performing on the Plaza of Heroes as we walked by.

With Quarter horse and Arabian

Don't you love those boots?

The little festival was at the base of this statue group.

These are the traditional clothes of the Hungarian cowboy.

A Long Walk

The next day we walked from Buda to Pest and across the city.
The national history museum

Does your city have pretty drain covers?

A haunted house, maybe?

While property values are going up in Hungary, and much renovation is being done, much still remains in need of it.

A War Memorial on a corner building

Four historic heroes were situated on each corner of an intersection in pretty gardens.
