Intermezzo: Swiss Reception

Zürich

For family and friends to meet the bridal couple, we had a reception the weekend following the wedding. Another lovely day.

That middle building is the guild hall in which the reception was held. The building is in the Rococo style and is from the 1700's. It was for the guild of the wine merchants, painters, and saddlers.

We were in the centre and left main rooms of the "2. Stock" (third floor in American terms), top picture.

Intermezzo: Chicago

On the Way Home

We had a bit of time in Chicago before we flew home. What an enormous city.

One must try the city's special deep dish pizza. It was somewhat off in that the crust was crusty, the meat was on the bottom, with cheeses over that, and tomato sauce on top, mostly opposite of how I make pizza.

A morning walk in the frosty air.

One alien amongst them

The Millennium Park with the Cloud sculpture (which is popularly called the Bean, I hear).

The polished stainless steel makes wonderful reflections.

The undulating surfaces of the stadium

And what does one have the next day? More deep dish pizza.

Intermezzo : Madison and A Wedding

Wisconsin Winter

Here are a few glimpses of the setting of the great event.

The beautiful Capitol building, very close to the wedding venue

When it is icy cold one ought to ice skate. This was the rink at the wedding hotel.

THE MOST WONDERFUL CAKE
Thank you, Pam.

A view of the hotel on a screen
The outside conditions looking across the lake, across which some people chose to hike.
Lovely couple, lovely setting, lovely company, lovely everything

The top of the cake reserved for the bridal couple's "good bye to Wisconsin" day.
That was after loading a household and car into a big shipping container to send it across the ocean.

Forty feet

This was a very quick water color sketch on the new paper from my students.
Thank you all.
This is hot pressed cotton paper which is very different to work on from the cold pressed and rough sheets on which I normally work. The paint has a much softer look and lifting paint is very easy.

More to follow. I will send people pictures privately.

And the last of the marvelous wedding cake. It was for the going away celebration. The bride and groom arrived home today.

Digital Stormy Sea

Digital painting of a stormy sea, in a long format because I was trying to get a feel for the dimensions I will be working with for my webcomic...

I was originally thinking about just skipping the post this week, since I have been so tired and not making as much art, but whatever. I not going to be able to read the other latest posts here until next time or something, though, so I'm sorry if I miss any comments or news. I'll catch up later again. :)
