More Dutch Paintings

Paintings of Life as it was –

This one was called something like "The interrupted music practice" - to which some can relate, surely.

Polymer Bowl

Done, Number One

A bit ago I showed the polymer canes I made. Then I had to wait for a cutting tool. Today I got back at the project, after doing some extensive reading on the subject. I should have done that first, but it will help for next time.
I cut the rolls into slices .....

......and applied them inside a bowl to make a colorful bowl. It was all figure-it-out-as-you-go. So it is quite crude, but very colorful. Sort of Mexican looking.

Then I baked it and voila.

Ninety-nine to go.

Dutch Works

From Museums in Amsterdam

This is one portion of a very large painting....

And that fly is painted on, but everyone wants to shoo it away.

marvellous use of light

A detail of a family altar. Would that we all had one.

This and the next two are portions of a large painting of a village scene, with abundant details of local life.

Abundance indeed. And the One Thing Needful in the background (above).

Did It! First 100

Numbers 99 and 100

As you see my style has not really changed or even developed. That’s why the first  hundred don’t count. I will likely do more, off and on, to see what happens.

First one is more fog effects. Second was for a birthday card that went to Sri Lanka.

And Number 100.

Watercolors and Hotel

Numbers 97 and 98

This is probably not finished yet.

Hotel Visit

The Palace Hotel in Lucerne is being remodelled, so all the furnishing are being sold this weekend. We decided to take a look. So did hordes of other people. After plowing through the crowds we found a couple of things to buy, but when the lines and the wait got to be more than a man can humanly bear, we left without them. But the scenery is always nice down there.

A number of luxury hotels are situated on the lake shore. In the picture is a boat house.

Palace Hotel

The line of people you see went forever.

In the countryside. Farms often had their own chapels.

Colors and Water

More Flowers

From my Mother, for her relaxing time. Love those colors, and how they DO NOT have to be a copy of anything. Your vision is your art.

Watercolors 93 and 94

More watery fog. It needs more practice.

And no fog, which didn't get enough attention, but was fun.

Art School Finals

The first semester is over at Masters School of Art in Oregon. Leah and Sarah are laboring intensively to finish their final projects. The school presentation is this Thursday night. Here are the finished works of Leah--

Still life in pastels

For portrait class- white pencil on black board. Leah says it was difficult but very educational. This is her adorable niece, Kara.

For illustration class in colored pencils.

An original design (from her own photograph) in colored pencils.

Last night she was working hard on another pencil work.
We are looking forward to the school presentation. I think this girl will win some prizes!

Watercolors 92 and 93

Getting Close

Almost up to the "First 100." They are all practice ones, but having the goal is good.

These two are specifically practice for a requested foggy illustration. They are not quite right yet, so more to come.

I have been informed that some of my comments and responses have not posted, and I am having some difficulties with some apparatuses, so excuse me while I work on those.

Water Crayons

New Material

Maria gave me some supplies she wasn’t using, so I tried them. One was a set of water soluble crayons.

They were OK, and might be useful for some sorts of projects, but I  think I prefer straight watercolors.
I have some requests in progress or in thought, and some will be water media.
