Birthday Party

Painting Given

Running debate : European Robins have identical coloring in male and female, so which of these is the male, and which the female?

Covering Blue

The Next Stages

All those pretty designs got covered, but still peek through as tones and texture in the back ground.

Then the subject matter got drawn in charcoal, then initial paint.

Book Making

Lessons

A young man needs a Valentine for his girl, so we worked on page scoring and folding, signature stitching, learned the kettle stitch, made and covered covers, and got messy with glue.

Possible spine cover.

Now to fill it. Weekend work for him.

More Than Blue

Stenciling Added

This is for some color, texture, and pattern under the background. But it will only show very subtly afterward.

Light quality was poor. You can see when I get to things.

The Other Comic Update

...mostly because the traditional work I could show you is not photographed at present.

Google Docs outline snip of the script file, just for the sake of having an image here XD

I would venture to say that I expect to have enough episodes completed to launch the series with by sometime in March, but we'll see how that goes. Also, I'm not quite sure if I should stick with my decision to leave the first episode (which was almost already completed last February before I went back to sharpening up the script instead of trying to follow the vague outline) as is, since I would probably want to redo it later on anyway. It is pretty scary-looking right now...

Master Painting

This is Temporarily in my Possession

It is a print, made to mimic a painting, of a work by a nineteenth century Italian artist.
I like the subject, and the artist’s work.

Minimalist?

New Start

So, with more snow coming down

I started painting a canvas, in terrible light, but I just needed to cover the surface with paint.

I could say “Blue on Blue” or “Summer Sky” or “Untitled number 4537,” but actually it is the beginnings, I hope, of something more. To be continued...

Technological Puzzle?

So, Google Drive is how my sisters and I have been sharing files for our comic all this time; and just recently it started being quirky and saying the mdp and psd files were png files, which they obviously were not, and then no program would open them.

We still have no idea how to fix this problem after multiple tries and searching Help, and trying other ways of saving and such; but we did figure out a way around it for now, because even though the mdp files won't register correctly over email either, at least the psd files DO. So that's great...

Needless to say, it was a very annoying problem, and while this workaround will do for now, I am still puzzled to no end about the suddenness of Drive not getting along with our files, and I would rather that be taken care of eventually...

Oh! I got some gouache with my Christmas money, and I am excited to play with that some more soon. XD I took a gouache class a while ago at art school, if you remember, and it was a lot of fun and kind of tricky!

The Sun Came Out

Our version of bright.

And More Snow on the way.

Outside

We got MORE Snow

The mailman couldn’t get anything in our mailbox. He brought the mail to door.

Mom, will you shovel off the trampoline?
I did. Hundreds of pounds of sticky snow.

Wind protection.

So the birds can still eat.

Winter Hardy

Fresh From Fall

We are still enjoying these. No canning or freezing or fusses. Just keep and cook. Isn’t it pretty? It would have been good for a still life, if I had time for that, but it is eaten now.

Winter Day

Snowy

To start this year, we got some cold days, then a bit of snow, then some warming, which made slipperiness, then slushy snow, which made treacherous footing, then rain, which made most of the snow disappear, then today the snow came back: fluffy, heavy snow, all day.

So, yesterday, when it was raining, I made a little winter watercolor. Today, I added snowflakes.

A Start

That’s All

No painting p-in-a-day these days.
Sometimes all one can do is a tiny bit in a day. I sketch while doing other things, like talking to people.....
If one does a little bit each day, even with “no time for art,” then eventually something will come from it.
My vision of heaven is free time with focused attention.

Late Christmas

About to Bloom

This was a business gift. When I finally brought it out of the cooler dining room, into the warmer kitchen by the wood stove, it perked up and opened. Sensitive tropical natives!

This is how the bulbs come these days: waxed on a wire stand, not in a pot. “Do not water,” they say. OK.
