Budapest 6

On the Castle Hill

While no castle remains, there is a historic church used in former times for the coronation of kings. It is the St. Matthias church, built and rebuilt after many good and bad times, converted to a mosque when the Ottomans took over, then reconsecrated when the Hungarians got their land back.

The glazed roof tiles are specially made in Hungary for this church.
