The gloom has turned chilly, and everything is covered in frost.
The greenhouse needs its little candle heater to stay above freeezzzzing.
Water outside froze.
But not in the fountain, because it is always running.
You can see how the retained heat in the rock protected part of the moss from freezing.
It’s all quite pretty, if one’s sap is resistant to being frozen.
I would be worried about the ice cracking that beautiful birdbath!
ReplyDeleteAlso- that terracotta candle holder puts out enough heat to keep the greenhouse above freezing? Very surprising! How low will it be that effective ?

ReplyDeleteThe little candle heater only helps with a few degrees below zero. We double up on candles if necessary. But it doesn’t typically get much below zero, except for a couple of nights per winter.
No snow here, just cold a gloomy. But today had some fine sunshine. SMB
