Day Three

End of Moscow

Our train leaves in the afternoon, so this morning we went back to Red Square to the Armory, which is now the State Museum of history. It has artifacts from pre-civilization (meaning before cities) to pre-Communist day’s.

The building is beautiful, each room with decor pertinent to the time it covers.

Hunters and Gatherers

These tusks are taller than a man.
The little animal figures below are smaller than a hand.

Medieval decor

Saint George, patron saint of Russia.

A baptism vessel for the Trinity. The figure is the pelican giving her blood for her children.

Two sleighs

An empress in porcelain. And a throne.

Much of the exhibits were military themed.

Note the beautiful details

A painted screen of  folk dress.

A sumptuous child’s coach with a seat for an adult driver.

A gorgeous tiny triptych of Abraham entertaining the Three Visitors.

After this we went out and found the forecast rain had started. So we went up the Square to tour St. Basil’s.
Next time....
