Muckross and Derrynane

Gardens

We strolled the extensive Muckross Gardens. We couldn’t do the house tour, but the outsides were gorgeous. Rock garden, Arboretum, vast lawns, blooming Camillia Lane, and acres of pathways.

Ring Of Kerry

Our path today was the west half of the Ring. It is the southern most part of Ireland, going along the coast line for most of its way.

The Liberator’s House

The man who made progress for Irish representation in English Parliament, Daniel O’Connor, had a family home in Derrynane. We walked it’s grounds, woods with fairy houses, sandy beach to a ruined Abbey where his beloved wife and mother of his eleven children is buried.

And we got a private tour of the house interior -it isn’t high season - and history lesson.

Next up, an island.
