Exhibits of Ancient Artifacts
This museum has a remarkable collection of pre-European art, tools, and artifacts, along with dioramas, maps, and reconstructions. There is the usual evolutionary twaddle in one hall, but that is easily avoided for the better parts. Quite a large percentage of the exhibits had no explanation, and the rest were in Spanish, so this was a “look and make your own conclusions” experience. But that compels close observation, so it is good.
Large stone figures
Tiny stone figures. Note the face forms on all the figures in this and subsequent photos.
Hunting the Mastodon
Got him!
Watch the children! The rats are huge!
A map of various tribes.
A photo from a collection of more recent times.
Masks were plentiful
As were decorative figures with phenomenal headdresses
This was a wall-size work made of tinted ropes.

We are not sure what lived in here. The structure was a little over man-size tall, so the door is very miniature.
The pottery shapes and decorations are always intriguing..
To be continued….
