This was built over many years, but the main spurt was a period of ten years for thousands of kilometers of wall. This took over a million lives and untold resources, most cut and hauled from southern China to northern China.
After being an effective deterrent to invasion for awhile, it was neglected for a long time, but is being repaired as tourist attraction and national treasure now.
