And More St.Gallen

In the Basement

A model of the Abbey grounds.

A model of the Abbey church from the 1700’s. It is in eight parts for transport. Note the size compared to the boy.

A gold embossed book cover. Phenomenal!

The junk of other years are the treasures of today. These were used as filler in a later construction. Their beauty was not regarded as save-worthy. Although, in retrospect, because they were put in the wall, they weren’t smashed and we can see them today.

A “wild man.”

And you must finish your Latin translation before supper tonight. It’s short. And note, the G’s are backward.

And that was that. Back outside into the evening lights. The next day was Epiphany - the last day for Christmas lights, then it all came down.
So we strolled a bit and enjoyed the shop windows.

Drinks, potions, and liquid sustenance.

Solid sustenance for the spirit.

Note the middle Biber (not chocolate; they are gingerbread with sort of a  marzipan filling). The church is the Abbey church/cathedral.

Then we went to a bakery for Kings Bread for Epiphany.

And the Laderach store was nearby. Nobody can go home without a wee bit to take along - or maybe more.

Good night, St. Gallen.

Next stop: Siena D.v.
