The Eleventh Day of Christmas

On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me
Eleven pipers piping,
Ten lords a leaping,
Nine ladies dancing,
Eight maids a milking,
Seven swans a swimming,
Six geese a laying,
Five gold rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

Two days left of the Christmas season. Enjoy.

For Sunday service we light the tree.

And candles

And angels.

And

I mentioned spring weather yesterday and our hope for snow. We got some last night - sort of. Near by. A bit.

How is that for impressive snow cover? It was pretty though when the morning sun peeked through for literally one minute this morning.

Behind the picture above was this grey sky and a momentarily brave sun.
Immediately followed by this for my walk.

Along the way, in the rain.

Some winter bloomers.

These are the unsold trees from Christmas. They are collected and then get fed over the next several months to deer in wildlife parks and castle moats. The wild deer fend for themselves.

A wet chicken.  I had a warm fire awaiting at home.

  1. We normally walk in winter rain but this last week we've been gingerly walking over slippery snow and ice covered paths with scarves (well, me with a scarf) to cover faces from the frigid air. It's nice to have real winter for a change. That flowering viburnum thinks it is spring. It is always the first (very fragrant!) flower to bloom in late winter, usually Marchish. I would be worried.

  2. It's not mine. Several neighbors have them, blooming almost every winter and they seem to survive.
