The Tenth Day of Christmas

On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me
Ten lords a leaping,
Nine ladies dancing,
Eight maids a milking,
Seven swans a swimming,
Six geese a laying,
Five gold rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

Nice but..

Today is a lovely spring-weather day with the sun shining and no fog at all.
The problem is that the plants think it is spring, when winter hasn't started.

Primulas on warm days in January are almost understandable...

.....but violets in January are much too early.

And daffodils are pushing too hard. The ski areas are not happy either. But, since we have it, we'll enjoy it today.

  1. That is the kind of winter we had last year. It led to a very buggy summer. Spring and the blossoming of orchards was a full three weeks earlier than ever before recorded. We also ended up with a terrible drought all summer because there was no snow pack on the mountain. We had never seen such a bare, dry mountain. We were worried about having another such winter. We are having real winter now though. We have about eight inches of snow on the ground now and very cold temperatures. It feels good! A real hibernation time for once.

  2. Good that it came, then maybe we will get winter soon, too. Everyone is waiting for it.
