After the bounteous suppers we are served, we needed a walk, so we went to the nearby Bagrati church. It is very, very old, in parts, but was accidentally bombed by the Russians under German General Totleben at the turn of the last century. But the people here painstakingly gathered the surviving stones and reassembled them, with new stones where necessary, to restore and rebuild the church. It is now a combination of old and intricate with new and plain.
The old bell tower survived.
Need to find that rock carver and get him working 🤣👍🏻 M
