Leaving Elm

One last day in the mountains, then off to home.

Partly foggy today

Winter decor

A high bridge over a rushing steam

Where my walk ended today

A street sign board about a landslide and the mountain hole

The town had a major business in the mid 1800's mining slate from a mountain side above the town. They didn't, however, know that they should take precautions, so one day a huge landslide covered a large portion of the town and 114 people.

Note in the upper right area "Martinsloch," which means Martin's Hole, through which the sun shines on the town church twice yearly.

Good-bye Elm
